This is a fantastic sequel to Hater, a huge improvement in my opinion. Although I still had trouble connecting with the characters as with Hater, Dog Blood's storyline is many times more thrilling; it was hard to stop reading. On another note, I disagree with the readers who refer to Haters as zombies. Haters are different and so much better. This is a fantastic sequel to Hater, a huge improvement in my opinion. It was not thrilling as I would have hoped. It was painful dealing with the constant, never-ending cluelessness of the characters. They are all dull, including the protagonist. I agree with the guy below me. Haters are not zombies.

As the commenter below said, this is NOT a fast paced story with lots of action. The psychology of the characters is the focus. This creates characters that the reader become easily attached to and makes putting the book down a difficult task.

I was surprisingly entertained. I don't care about children or parenting but Chua tells the story of her family very captivatingly. The book is well-written except the ending. Felt as if Chua was tired of writing this and wanted to get it over with.
People below have been criticizing this book as if it was justifying Chua's style of parenting. That is not the message. It is simply a memoir in which Chua often mocks herself and is quite humourous. If at all, this book clarifies flaws in both "Western" and "Chinese" parenting and it definitely does not dictate that one is more evil than the other.I was surprisingly entertained. Jim Lebans makes space and physics entertaining and understandable to even the most unknowledgeable person through brief, yet logical explanations and a light, humourous tone (although not funny enough to LOL at). I would give this 5 stars if it had pictures or diagrams. Since this book is directed at amateurs, it can be sometimes difficult to visualize things correctly despite the good use of analogies.Jim Lebans makes space and physics entertaining and understandable to even the most unknowledgeable person through brief, yet logical explanations and a light, humourous tone (although not funny enough to LOL at). A lot of things were far too predictable to create the necessary mystery and suspense of a thriller. The biology in this novel lacks any innovation. This is an okay preteen or young teen read but would be unlikely to make an impression to an adult.

Could have had more suspense and action for a thriller. Characters are well-developed and easy to connect with. The last third of the book was where things became really interesting and the conclusion was a shock. Overall a fun read. You learn quite a bit about Haiti's history and culture too.Could have had more suspense and action for a thriller. Characters are well-developed and easy to connect with. The plot isn't very captivating, but The Time Machine is very descriptive and insightful. It was interesting to read Well's explanations of certain events in the story using 19th century science. The frequent searching in the notes in the back of the book for the meaning behind certain words/phrases was slightly annoying, but nonetheless it was a pleasure to read. The plot isn't very captivating, but The Time Machine is very descriptive and insightful. A very easy read. It is still enjoyable even if you know nothing about Joseph Stalin or have no interest in politics.
