I loved this collection, and the ideas summarized and itemized on her works really opened my eyes. I enjoyed reading the comments on her works as much as reading the works themselves. Many of my favorites were among this collection, and I found a few new ones to love, too. Great reading for anyone who enjoys dissecting poetry.I loved this collection, and the ideas summarized and itemized on her works really opened my eyes. I appreciate the fresh perspective this author takes on many already-familiar but not oft talked-about subjects (thus, the title of the collection) and the way we are introduced to them and leave them. It is a dance, of sorts, and I really appreciated the unvarnished look at them. It all seemed very plausible, real, and yet entertaining in their twists and turns. Good summer read, but not one I will pick up again.I appreciate the fresh perspective this author takes on many already-familiar but not oft talked-about subjects (thus, the title of the collection) and the way we are introduced to them and leave them. This was informational, educational, and just plain FUN TO READ! I enjoyed being a shameless voyeur of all that goes into space flight and the preparation for it, and the aftermath. It wasn't full of science-y language nor hard to understand terms and equations, it was a lot of what I enjoy in this kind of book. I was loaned this book by a friend and would recommend it to anyone who is as interested in "all things space" as I am. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! This was informational, educational, and just plain FUN TO READ! I love this trilogy, and this book is worthy of the other two. I still love the first one the best, but the subsequent two have kept me rapt, not wanting to put it down. I love the introduction of new characters, even at this late date, and I adore the way this author / these authors - write. Satisfying reading, definitely feeds my love of post-apocalypse fiction as well as some pseudo-zombie (vampires, but kind of alien vampires, not the traditional, and certainly NOT sparkly) vampire action. I love this book!!!I love this trilogy, and this book is worthy of the other two. I still love the first one the best, but the subsequent two have kept me rapt, not wanting to put it down. Beautifully written, I love this author's style, this is a well-laid-out tale and one I will not soon (read: ever) forget! As the parent of a teen, I agree with others who've read this, it is exponentially more difficult to get through. Worth it, though, for the story.Beautifully written, I love this author's style, this is a well-laid-out tale and one I will not soon (read: ever) forget! The title may be off-putting, that it may contain depressing material, but this work is BRILLIANT. It asks and answers questions, uses historical/Biblical/true-life examples, and really gets into the subject matter. The only problem I had with reading it was keeping up with the different story lines of the real-life examples the author used, as he dipped in and out of their stories. It wasn't afraid to use the right word, which meant I was grabbing my dictionary now and then, but I found that to be an enjoyable and not-that-frequent event. This book really got me thinking and educated me in a way I have not been in a long time. Well worth the time involved in reading it, and not at all depressing! The title may be off-putting, that it may contain depressing material, but this work is BRILLIANT.
