Geez. I think Bernd Heinrich is brilliant. Several times I skipped over a paragraph about some scientific something something. He definitely likes the Kinglets. Fascinating how the birds and the bee’s survive.

I loved the way the author used his deep understanding of biology--especially evolution--and the physical world to explain fascinating adaptations of plants and animals in winter. Some of his exploits to collect his data are hilarious.
