currently reading the series and compared to magic lessons and the rules of magic, this one definitely focuses less on the magic aspect, but it makes sense considering the rest of the series were written/published more recently. I would…

Another entry in the series, this one focuses less on “magic” than the earlier books. I like how the books are tied together, usually by a character. I find the series overall deals more with a woman’s way of knowing (aka the goddess) than…

A little over hyped but still enjoyable. The writing, the mystery and the characters were intriguing. Interested to see how the movie stacks up against the book. There are a few instances of crude and unnecessary language.
"one of my all-time favorite books. it makes me want to believe in magic and love that even time will lie down and be still for. it is for fans of magic, love, the journey of finding your own path, and the power of sisterhood"

Alice Hoffman has become one of my favorite authors. I have seen this movie many times, but as expected the book is different in a good way. The continuing story about women in the Owens family picks up where the last book leaves off.…

5 stars. I'm late to the party on this terrific book. In fact, the book I read was the 25th anniversary edition printed in 2003. But I'm so glad I read this. This is book 1 in what became a series of 4. I have bought the next book in…

I have heard of Alice Hoffman and this series for quite a while, and for some reason I never read anything she wrote until now. Wow! This was so good! I was afraid it was going to be blatant magic and witches, evilness and heavy-handed…

To start, I liked the booked. The author has a magical way of developing the characters in a way that even though they are all so different and flawed, they were endearing and lovable. I enjoyed the unexplained draw and the elements of…

I read the prequels before reading “Practical Magic” so I have been reading about their family stories for centuries now. It’s a bit of a relief to be done, I definitely think that this last book is the best of the trilogy. I liked how the…

Missed the movie but pretty sure I would like it even though it would by necessity be different. It was a good summer book and will likely read the prequel.
Not like the movie! The movie tried it's best to depict Sally's cold and mean streak. Jillian gets married several times and they are not close like in the movie. The ending in the movie is definitely made up by Hollywood, but I actually…

I love, love, love this movie. The book is nothing like it of course. I still liked it, I like Alice Hoffeman's story telling, but there is no "Magic" in the book version of Practical magic.
Gillian and Sally don't really have powers.…

I love Alice Hoffman. I love her characters and their relationships and the mix of knowing and unknowing they all have. My first book of hers was the prequel and I’ve literally been consuming everything of hers I can get my hands on since.…

I could not read this book because it made me fall asleep it was so hodrum boring. I tried and tried for 3 days to read but it just put me to sleep for about 2 hours. I am an insomniac that is lucky to get more than 2 hours a night of…

While there are many stories unfolding for each individual, this book is really about family relationships and love. The character development was great and the flow of the book felt effortless.
