The opening scenes SHOULD have been cut or deleted. The rest of the movie was very good. I didn't care for HAL the talking computer guidance system.

Don't care for the beginning scenes much. But the rest was wonderful. Quite a visual feast, especially considering when it was made. I am going to watch the next movie. And read all the books, too.

Slow, mysterious, psychedelic futuristic film. The special effects are very good given the year it was created. It only shows its age in the hairstyles of the women.

THE LAST WORDS to appear on the screen are, “The End.” Perhaps that isn’t a surprise, but they appear after the closing credits, which implies that the artists who created the film are part of the film, and this is an important point,…

An intersting theory on the evolution of Mankind.....A classic that still holds up today. It is better if you read the book first...Good Luck BP

Hey guys, I wrote a comment on this movie a long time ago, and I didn't give it nearly enough words. This movie is on WatchMojo's best movies of all time list, and I am very inclined to agree with them. its visuals are amazing for the late…

A brilliant piece of filmmaking. One of the best sci-fi films ever, a must-see.

If sentient beings come to Earth and discover our remains they’ll say ‘Humans were mindless animals that destroyed themselves, therefore these paintings and Gothic cathedrals are de facto garbage.’ They won’t appreciate the dualistic,…

What does the monolith signify? It's a heavily-freighted symbol: perhaps whatever destiny awaits us as a species. This is my favorite of Kubrick's movies, and it never fails to take my breath away. The score alone is astonishing. Combined…

What an incredibly well-done, boring piece of schlock. It is an achievement of visual effects for its time, but I don't understand how you could find this film entertaining if you weren't stoned. There is obviously a riveting story here…

It's just been reported that astronaut Scott Kelly's largest heart chamber shrunk 25% from spending a year in micro-gravity. The possibility of health problems from prolonged time in micro-gravity was considered way back in the 1950s.…

1968 movie, people! First in so many ways! BEFORE special effects.

1968. PG. For a young teenager in 1968..confusing. But later as an adult, I see the meaning. Everyone interprets the meaning differently. It's a classic tho.

I think people forget this movie was made in 1967. I think this movie was ahead of its time Stanley Kubrick got some things right about the future.

When you have to Google what things mean in the film, it's not good. The soundtrack is great but to me the film isn't as great. I struggle with what the story is about and the imagery. I guess I need a degree/PhD in astronomy. I wanted to…

The cinema-photography and early caveman scenes in the first 10 minutes of this show were So Good, absolutely spectacular! and worth watching just for that, then it juts into the future and produces Nothing interesting. If you think this…

This is, to put it simply- the greatest movie ever made. it is a titanic work of sublime art and is timeless. It is one of the only movies that really captures the cosmic dimension so successfully. Kubricks greatest film.

I saw 2001 when it was originally released and quite obviously in 2019, 2001 is a bit further off. This digital remasterization is superb, and the original movie is even better than I ever remembered it to be. Unlike many science fiction…

Gotta love the classics. The first great "serious" (whatever that means) sci-fi movie, this set the standard for all that followed. Epic? Yes. Detailed? Yes. Realistic? Yes, as far as was known in 1968, and barring the fact that…

A visionary and epic movie made by Stanley Kubrick about extraterrestrials and space travel. I don’t want to spoil anything and I won't but allow me to give my opinion on this great movie. The soundtrack in this movie is beyond awesome…

50 relatively brief years have now passed since this monolith of Sci-Fi psychedelia was released. Space travel and man's technological advances certainly haven't reached anywhere near to what was foreseen back then by author, Arthur C.…
