I liked this DVD and the whole series. One of the most loved television series of all time is brought back to life with a fresh cast and sumptuous production values. It's 1936, and six years since parlor maid Rose left 165 Eaton Place,…

Thoroughly enjoyed this remake and the second season, which ties it all together. The time was the lead up to the WW2, the historical details of which we found most interesting. Great acting, costumes, scenery as one expects from series…

I didn't really like it. The sets, dress, decorations were superb. But something was missing in this series. Having only seen a few of the original series as a teen this hardly compares. One HUGE problem I had was the story regarding…

Sequel to original TV series. Only 3 parts - Must have been like a miniseries which continued later with a second season (we are watching it now & it seems even better than this first season). You don't necessarily have to watch the…

I have never seen the original t.v. miniseries (SPL has it). I enjoyed this version, the first series has an old woman who spent time in India with her husband during the British Imperial era. She is back home with her pet monkey and her…

Can't watch second dvd on checked out WTS copy. After the Title section the counter goes from 00:00:00 to 00:00:01 and back again, with blank screen and no remote button inputs working.

A sequel of sorts to the original series. However, only the house and one character from the original series maintain the continuity. Interesting characters and storylines.

Good, well worth the three hours. Unfortunately, they competed with "Downton Abbey" which had more of everything. And combined with some bad luck in their cast, this series did not survive.

Attempt to pickup the family doings, not too bad but nothing compared to the original series of 30 years previous. Jean Marsh plays her older part very well. Great to see Art Malik 30 years after Jewel In the Crown.

A fine and involving period soap melodrama, based on the good old upperclass family contrasted and interacting with the servants theme.

I found it completely absorbing. I loved the ambiance of the '30s accoutrements; the references to historical events (Edward VIII's renouncing of the throne, British 'Blackshirt' fascists, etc.); the cast... Especially the cast. Jean Marsh…

Absolutely love it. What a shame that there will be no Series 3. Producers say that Downton Abbey has snatched all the viewers.

I can see how it would have been good for its time, but it hasn't really aged well. A forerunner of the prime-time "soaps."

Very enjoyable and well made miniseries. Keeley Hawes is charming in everything she does and I love Ed Stoppard.

enjoying it..one more episode to watch. Thank goodness we have access to British productions as North American drama and mysteries are so mediocre....

Well-scripted and addictive. Rose Buck is back at 165 Eaton Place, this time as housekeeper to the Hallams. It is 1936, and the storylines include King Edward's abdication for Mrs. Simpson, Oswald Mosley and the 1936 BUF March, and even…
