Not for me. I tried to like it but stopped at page 70. I can only say that the first 70 pages are about how not prepared she was and how heavy her bag was. Losing a parent is one of the most painful thing in life, but for me, she is one…

I am more than a little surprised that it took me so long to read this. At one point I owned it AND THEN donated it because the prologue didn’t grab me. Since reading TRAILED, I’ve wanted to read more about WOMEN in nature and the outdoors…

I read a lot of memoirs and this is by far one of the best ones I’ve come across. I love Strayed’s brutally honest, raw style of writing and the fact that she’s not afraid to paint herself as an unlikable character at times - that takes a…

Well written and tells a moving story of personal struggle and realization. It makes an interesting comparison with "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson. Both are about hiking a long trail (PCT vs AT) and both tell a story appropriate to…
if Chris McCandless was female, and if he'd have hiked the PCT, he'd still be alive ... unless somebody raped and killed him
It's interesting that both Into the Wild, and Wild tell a story about adult children with family issues, in…

I loved this book! It made me really proud to be a woman! I found Cheryl to be a brave, young girl trying to find herself after her mother died and after a divorce. It was her journey alone through a trail from California to Oregon. …

Cheryl Strayed was a brave young woman to have undertaken this journey. Her persistence to complete what she started is to be admired due to many mishaps along the way. She is transformed in so many ways by the time she reaches the end…

Everyone has a different view of a book - I was very disappointed in Wild. It had vulgar language and sex. This is definitely not a book for teens. The best I can say about it was the hiking parts were ok, but the rest of it was not.
Absolutely and highly recommend this book. It takes you through the journey of hiking the PCT and the struggles that come along with it. This is also a great book for anyone who is grieving a loved one. The writing and way the stories were…

One of the rare cases where the film is way better than the book. I found the author's self-absorption bordering on the pathological and didn't enjoy the writing.

Finally read this book after learning of it in college. What a great read.
Cheryl really manages to pull you into her story, letting you feel the emotions and the encounters that she faced during her trek on the PCT, but still leaves you…

Read this book over a year ago and loved every word of it. As a long-distance hiker myself I ate, drank, and slept with the same hiker turmoil as she describes.
Best part of the book AND the movie: the bitter scream when the boot went…
