I can appreciate the gore and some of the suspense in the novel. Unfortunately, the writing lacks subtlety. There is a romantic subplot that is particularly painful to read, with a female character who acts as the epitome of the "Horny…

A promising and exciting beginning, then at about page 75 or so, you find out the nature of the forces aligned against our heroes and it's downhill from there. I should have shut the book for good right then but I didn't. This combined…

I started, but lost interest about half way. Too slow moving for my tastes.

Enjoyed it. Fun, quick read. I thought it would make an interesting movie. One caveat, this is only part one of the whole story.

Ok...This is Anne Rice (Interview with a Vampire series) meet Dan Brown's, The Da Vinci Code. While the book is well-written and imaginative it is so over-the -top ridiculous as to not be taken seriously. Read it for pure entertainment…

It almost seemed real & I'm a huge fan of Vatican fiction...I've definitely enjoyed it. This is my first Rollins book so can't make a comparison to his other works. However if I were to compare it with Vatican fiction books, definitely…

"In this supernaturally tinged religious thriller, the forces of good and evil race to recover a book said to be written by Christ himself, in his own blood. On the side of good are the Sanguines, an order of priests, while the evil is…

Terrible book unless you are into vampire sects in the Catholic church and a gospel written in Christ's blood. And this is not the end apparently there will be more books in this series. Rollins is wasting his time writing such drivel.

Ok. So I love James Rollins. This is not his best work. The characters are not all that relatable. And it's a vampire story. I thought that fad had finally run its course. That said, I'll still read the next one.

Great premise and set-up for a good story, the ending was disappointing. Seems like this is only part 1 of a long series.

Not being a fan of fantasy fiction or supernatural tales, I thought I might not enjoy this one. I was totally wrong. Good read. The story flowed smoothly and had enough action and suspense to keep me reading. 4*'s for fantasy fiction…

Good story but different than the other Rollin's books I've read. Book has it's ups and downs and very little filler. Quick read.
