Aug 26, 2014 We have Colin Dexter to thank for; first with Inspector Morse, then Inspector Lewis (with Hathaway) and now Endeavor (with DI Thursday). Great season one as young Morse under DI Thursday was still all corners and sullen most…

A fantastic British detective series, this prequel outshines the original 1990s Inspector Morse productions. The writing is top-notch; love the retro 1960/70's milieu; Shaun Evans is simply fantastic as a young Morse. Highly recommended…

Although I never cared for the Morse series, I love this series of the young Morse as he develops as a man and a detective. This is mainly due to good writing and production and to Shaun Evens' and Roger Allum's wonderful acting. I haven't…

Detective Constable Endeavour Morse investigates murder cases with his mentor Detective Inspector Thursday. Though well-acted and well-crafted in this 3-DISC 4-episode pack, these murder cases seem solved suddenly at the end as if out of…

As ridiculous as the later Morse series. Oxford dons and clerics getting murdered left and right. As is that type of crime ever actually hsppens.

I liked this DVD. The continuing stories of rookie Constable Morse. The young Endeavour Morse is on the case, before his signature red Jaguar, but with his deductive powers already running in high gear.

Absolutely excellent. Powerful stories that are still relevant. Even gave me a new appreciation of Madame Butterfly. That woman’s voice really is incredible. I also have difficulty with British dialogue, so thank goodness for closed…

I, too, have difficulty understanding the "dialect" of British TV series and I also find most of them dreary and hard to follow the reasoning of the characters. In this first of the series, I found the opera music truly awful and would…

I did not like the original series with John Thaw as Morse. The older Morse was a terrible human being, abusive & dismissive toward whomever would tolerate his behavior. I was predisposed to like Inspector Lewis, but didn't find that…

Very good series which explains how Morse became Morse....and how he got his Jag.

I don't fully appreciate this . . . not the plots, nor the dialogue, nor the characters like the sleazy, chain-smoking, leering bully of a colleague or the chief who concerns himself more with the political implications of the crimes and…

Great series, Morse establishing his credentials as an intellectual detective with a love of classical music, mythology, and the classics, the basis of British imperialism in the world, great capture of English intellectual culture.....the…

Really disappointed in the first two episodes. Not up to British standards. First episode, at the end the wife for some 'reason' killed the girl and the boy, makes no sense at all except for Shock value. The second episode I got through…

Beautifully done series (production values, acting, direction). Shaun Evans superbly handles the daunting task of being the younger version of the much loved John Thaw character Inspector Morse. The pilot episode was especially…

5 stars Still working on understanding the dialect but keeps our interest through the whole show. 5 stars.

"Pilot Episode", episode 1, introduces Morse to alcohol. The young man who said to everyone that "I don't drink" easily takes up what becomes his habit. Another glaring drawback to being Morse is his utter inability to land a girlfriend.…

It was a calculated risk to create a prequel to the beloved Inspector Morse series that paid off. Solid plots, character continuity, high production value and excellent casting make this British mystery series one to watch.

As a fan of Inspector Morse-- both the books and the original TV series--I was thrilled with this prequel. Delves into his backstory, explains his taste for ale and for saving women, and is exceptionally well-acted. The dialogue rocks and…

Haven't seen the original Morse series in years, and don't remember much about it. This one (a prequel, with a new actor portraying the young, awkward, unsure Morse) definitely stands well on its own. // Well written and acted. Each…

IMHO, the best season of Endeavour out of the 3 I have seen (Pilot+, 1, 2). Great acting and some very good stories, told exceptionally well. I found series 2 to be a let down after seeing series 1. I'm not saying that series 2 was bad,…

Another good series from the Masterpiece Theatre/ITV productions. This series is set in Oxford in the mid-1960s. Excellent character actors and good scripts which are a bit uneven in quality, but still all very good. The interweaving of…

Outstanding production. Well written, not one wasted word. Clever plots. Mercifully free from diatribe, preaching and political correctness. One of the best British series ever.

An avid fan of ' Morse ' I was thrilled to discover that 'Endeavour' is as enthralling. Very well made. Awaiting with bated breath for series 2.

I was completely taken with this series. It works both as a prequel to the Morse series as well as a stand-alone series. The musical score is outstandingly beautiful, and there are some wonderful cinematic moments (a closing shot of an…

Kudos to the one who came up with this brilliant idea to revive Inspector Morse.
