Not as fun of a read as I thought it might be, in my opinion. Story is slow, characters just ok. Would rather move on to another book.

"This story is super fun! You begin not entirely sure if the story will go somewhere dark, and end up completely charmed! This book is a love letter for books, bibliophiles, and also for technology!" - Raven P.

Good read and enjoyed the tech side. This should be a film or limited series. Ryan Reynolds are you listening? I was casting the film in my head while I was reading. Totally enjoyable.

A quick read. While the nerd romance and tech talk assumed some familiarity and sympathy with either, which is asking a lot of the reader, perseverance in the reading was rewarded with a fine enough story of weirdness gone to seed like…

A novel about secret codes that contains secret codes- every acronym is there for a reason and some are just funny. This is a charming book that takes you on an adventure, complete with twists and turns, and doesn't disappoint at the end.…

The narrator, Ari Fliakos, has such an amazing voice for narration that it was impossible to stop listening to the story. I highly recommend this book for any audiobook listeners, as well as those who enjoy reading. The story was…

This was my favorite book five or six years ago, so when I found it second-hand for a few dollars, I was excited to give it a re-read. It did not disappoint! I am far enough removed from every career field/occupation/hobby featured in this…

This turned out to be a real treat. It took some time for it to really grab me... a little over halfway through. But when it did, it really did. And from that point on, it just got better and better.

Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan is the average mystery and adventure book. Clay Jannon was unemployed for months before finding a job as an overnight bookstore clerk, but the bookstore is not an ordinary bookstore. Mr.…

The amount of times Sloan decided to put the word "Googlers" in this book was upsetting and cringy. Clay the main character is very dry and doesn't really add much and while the whole book sounds interesting in theory but it just didn't…

I'm of two minds as I reflect on the book. On one hand, I finished it and enjoyed it. I enjoyed the characters and while the finish wasn't what I expected, it was a great finish. Robin Sloan's writing is tight and descriptive. I could…

Listened to this on CD during a long drive. The basic premise was interesting, but the execution was lacking. Bad selection.

A fun read, first and foremost. This is for you if are looking for something based on a mystery, with adventure, a lot of shadowy characters and sinister overtones that actually isn't full of tragedy, human cruelty and suffering. There is…

It was a fun idea, but it was hard for me to read. There were too many subplots and unimportant characters and the whole thing was a little far fetched. The ending was disappointing too. But it did show how wacko Google and its…

This book just glows! (No, really, check out the physical copy and it will glow!). A fun and quick read that involves adventure, books, bookstores, libraries, a secret organization, and some tech! We read this book for our book club and…

A fun story with a bit of mystery, adventure, and maybe a creepy cult. The story straddles the worlds of a centuries-old book club and the Silicon Valley tech scene to unravel the encoded secrets of a mysterious secret society. The scenes…

Fun, fun, fun. A mysterious novel that feels like science fiction or fantasy, but is not exactly either. Clay Jannon is out of a job until he sees the “Help Wanted” in a strange used bookstore. The elderly owner takes him on, but the…

His books tend to do with coding technology, a tad of supernatural and unusual people. It took me awhile to get into the story but I'm glad I finished it. Sometimes a quirky book is just right. If you liked this book read Robin Sloan's…
