Nicely done book about "the facts of life" - reader is guided through by a bird and a bee, funnily enough....! The bird thinks it is all sooo amazing; the bee wishes everyone would just stop talking about it. Probably children will identify with one or the other! Facts are clearly and plainly laid out in an easily understood format with lots of great pictures (the ones showing the stages of growth of a baby in utero are especially neat). Worth reading by parents first, to make sure you are okay with how info is dealt with, since the book also has a short section on abuse. It's delicately done and tries not to make it heavy, which is good. Our almost-six-year-old has not asked any questions yet but this book should serve as a good intro, before she's too much older. (This book was recommended by Meg Hickling, in her book The New Speaking of Sex.)
