Dar Williams is a superb songwriter who has a wonderful voice and a deft had at knowing the arrangements she wants. This album came out before I had been introduced to her music at the Ottawa folk Festival, and it is a gem, every track having an unusual "hook" and words that one wants to delve into to try and figure out exactly what she is trying to tell us (all the words are on the sleeve). Listening to this I realized how she and Janis Ian have many emotions in common - in the way that they commit matters to classic songs - I mean songs that become classics, in my mind at least, and add to my pleasure with every playing. - Tony Copple
