Alexie's groundbreaking debut was a bit less accessible than "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven" (the famous collection of short stories that followed). But for those familiar with Alexie's style and symbolic universe, this is a witty, elegiacally beautiful, historically important treat.
