Rucka engineers U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko's return to Antarctica in a crisply written opening scene that is a model of narrative economy. The stripped-down suspense story that follows isn't nearly as satisfying.

Not nearly as well done as the first volume. As one reviewer puts it on the back, more of a potboiler than a mystery. Not much mystery at all, in fact.
