Repeat of others... Best. Show. Ever. So sad it's over, but at least they made the movie, Serenity, which finally explains the Reavers. There's also the graphic novels to check out next.

The absolute Best show ever. This was the first Whedon show I watched & now I hope that he never dies. There is no way to describe this show which can possibly explain how Amazing this is. The most superb writing, perfectly cast actors, brilliant characters. It's a Space Western, in the best possible way.

one of my favourite shows of all time. think mashing a western with sci-fi and throwing in dashes of humour, romance, and the usual marks of a great joss whedon classic. watch this entire series before watching the follow up movie, Serenity.

“Firefly” follows the adventures of the crew of Serenity, a somewhat run down space ship. The captain of the ship is Mal Reynolds, who, along with his First Mate Zoe Washburne, fought in a civil war on the side of the Independants (the opposing side was the Alliance). Other members of the crew include Kaylee Frye, the ship’s engineer, Inara Serra, a companion, Derrial Brook, a pastor, Jayne Cobb, a mercenary, and Hoban ‘Wash’ Washburne, Zoe’s husband and the ship’s pilot. The crew of Serenity are smugglers, and while on a planet searching for jobs, they pick up a traveller named Doctor Simon Tam. It is later revealed that Simon has smuggled his younger sister River on board, and that they are both fugitives hiding from the forces of the Alliance.
“Firefly” is a sci-fi western television show that combines the best aspects of both genres. The show spans only one season, but is continued and ultimately finished in the 2005 film ‘Serenity’. “Firefly” is a unique and entertaining show filled with humor and action but punctuated with dark undertones. The characters are all unique and different, and each have their own quirks, flaws, and attitudes. The setting is vast, as the show takes place on different planets and in space itself. The plot is very interesting and keeps viewers enthralled, as each episode is very different, yet each still maintains a certain charm.
Overall, the author of this review highly recommends “Firefly”. It is a lovely show, and is suitable for ages thirteen and up due to some scary scenes and that one nude scene.

I enjoyed Firefly better than StarTrek, and I love StarTrek, Like StarTrek it is optimistic about the future of mankind. Great humor and each episode has a message. Wish this show had lasted more than one season.

The Firefly series is awesome. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to fly with smuggler Han Solo in the Millenium Falcon, just watch this series, this is as close of an answer as you will get.

Unfortunately this series was short lived due to several factors: Producers in FOX poor handling (poor promotion, aired out of order, etc.), it was a bit expensive to produce, and did not attract as many viewers as expected (at the time). It was a "late bloomer", a la Breaking Bad, Office Space...

If you are a true Sci Fi genre fanatic, you will love this series.

It is the second highest rated Sci-Fi Series with at least 1000 votes in IMDb: 9.2/10 (141,996 users); just behind an animated series.

Try it, it is a short Series, it was on the air only 1 season, and there is a sequel to the series, a film called Serenity.

I only watched a little bit. Didn't appeal to me. Nothing special. This is the series that precedes the movie, "Serenity", which was good, but definitely not great. I guess my standards are higher than other reviewers. Not worth raving over.

I was very impresses with the series when it was on, and again when I took out here. I wish they had of been able to continue the series as there was so much more they could have done with the story.

Here is hoping for movies to continue with it.
Fans for this show were behind it all the way.

Great fun !! And a reasonably developed sci-fi 'verse', based on the time-honored confict between empire and independence. So wierd that it wasn't picked up for another season !?! It is so much smarter and entertaining than many other series,.. maybe that's why (?). (It must have been badly scheduled and poorly promoted.) P.S. For an additional Firefly fix, be sure to catch the full length feature 'Serenity' ! (5-5-14: 1 ; 5-7: 7)

Opening song:

Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand.
I don't care, I'm still free.
You can't take the sky from me. Take me out to the black.
Tell 'em I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea.
You can't take the sky from me.
There's no place I can be.
Since I found serenity.
But you can't take the sky from me
