Fans of this series may enjoy two espionage novels by one of the scriptwriters, David Wolstencroft. "Good News, Bad News" (2004) and "Contact Zero" (2005).

Not credible to adults. Poor writing.

Liked the show until they killed off the main characters later on in series. What's with that? Just start a different show already!

Always nice to watch a drama that embodies an outlook from another part of the world. "MI-5," or "Spooks" as it is known in the UK, features some familiar faces if you watch entertainments from outside of the US. And some very able performances. It beats being subjected to yet another repeat of the degenerate spawn of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, at the least.

I quite like this series, but a lot of the episodic plots in this specific season seem to rely on deus ex machinae to be resolved by the end of the hour. It strikes me as being rather unrealistic. I'm currently watching the second season, and the writers do seem to have gotten a much better idea of the proper pace and scope for a story, but this is not the best example of their work. Mind you, the series does get better, so watching this season is probably a good idea if only to set yourself up for the really excellent material later on.

One man's pot boiler is another man's gem. I love this series. You actually have to WATCH the screen to know what is going on. (I don't think that is true of a lot of American TV like Law and Order which is easy to watch while multi-tasking because the plot is so simple.)

Brilliant opening to a sustaining series that's now in it's tenth season. Spooks, as it's known in the UK, excels at telling stories that are plausible, suspenseful and typical of BBC drama, superbly entertaining. If you had to choose between America's super-hero Jack Bauer and the team at MI-5, pick the latter.

Halfway decent little BBC TV potboiler about British domestic spooks with likable 2½ dimensional characters and lots of formerly trendy annoying camera work and editing. As the season progresses the characters get somewhat more interesting and the individual program plots seem more and more designed just to develop the regular characters.
