Michelle Paver’s ‘Wolf Brother’ (2004) – Chronicles of Ancient Darkness – Book 1, in many ways seemed to be modelled on Jim Kjelgaard’s ‘Fire Hunter,’ a book that I loved so much as a boy. While entertaining, ‘Wolf Brother’ is not in the same league as Kjelgaard’s earlier book. However, this book does hold the reader’s interest and it had a reasonably strong finish. There are a number of books in this juvenile rated series of books. Senior Doctor-at-Bass! D. A.

A gripping adventure set in stone-age Europe. There's a touch of fantasy too. It all works really well together. The series tells of the adventures of an orphaned boy and a wolf and their long journey to save their people from a demon. I

This is my favourite book. Michelle paver has alot of imaganation.

An enjoyable book set in prehistoric Europe. I like the author's interpretation of what life may have been like back then. She also clearly has done her homework talking to various First Peoples across the world. Plus it's a great story that young adults and not-so young adults can enjoy.

I think this is an awesome book because it taught me all about hunting and survival. Great book! can't wait to read the rest. I'd recommend this book for nine and up.

Suspenseful, it definitely keeps one guessing about what's lurking in the shadows. I like how Michelle Paver establishes that relationships are built on trust, and I especially enjoyed reading about how the relationship between Torak and the wolf cub developed.
