Item Details

Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote . . . and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

This story is disturbing and creepy. Just what you would expect from Stephen King.

The father makes the story.

His best novel, for sure!

I remember watching the movie first-- holy was I scared; the first time I never wanted to start watching a horror movie. another movie version I like better over Jack Nicollson one. read the book and couldn't put it down. sk is my favourite writer and couldn't have made the book any better

Well written but predictable. A lot of the events and imagery are kind of cliche, but it could be that it wasn't cliche when this book was originally written and it became cliche afterwards because everyone seems to copy Stephen King. I wish that the one female character had been better developed. The pacing is perfect.

Isolated in a haunted hotel a young boy discovers ghosts while his father slowly goes insane.
