The Penderwicks is a fun tale of 4 sisters and one interesting boy, Roslynd who is 12 Skye 11 Jane 10 and Batty 4. Now, Roslynd is a very helpful young lady and very responsible of batty. But , on the other hand Skye is very hot tempered and never takes care of Batty and doesn’t really like Batty that much. Jeffery, the interesting boy has a mom who is quite hot tempered. She wants to send Jeffery to Pency, a military school, but Jeffery wants to be a famous piano player. He also wants to take piano lessons at a really famous music academy. She also wants him to go to boarding school. It’s also a little bit of a romance story. But it is a really good story because the author really describes the characters to make them sound real.

The Penderwicks is book you will defiantly want to read and cherish over and over again. This is a summer tale of 4 sisters, their dog, and a boy they befriend. Their summer adventures include befriending Jeffrey, having a run in with an angry bull, going to Jeffrey’s birthday dinner party, where they meet the dreadfully strict Mrs Tifton, and many other fun and exciting adventures. Through the pages of this book, you will find that the sisters will do anything to protect their family’s honor and each other, especially their mother who died of cancer several years ago. Reading this book is like drinking cold lemonade on a hot summer’s day. You will want to read it over and over again and cherish it through your life. I will give this book 5 star, I’m sure you will enjoy it as much as I do.

The dregs of January is a good time to read a sunny summery book, and this is a great one. Recommended for anyone who likes old-fashioned (although it's not, really), family adveuntures. And there are sequels!

A great readaloud for the family, with classic "kids with free time" adventures and lots about friendship. Also excellent on audiobook.

I like this book a lot because there are different types of people who are mean, kind and adventurous.

I love this book! I own it and have read it several times. The girls are all 'real', the plot is engaging but fun, and they all have adventures that aren't of the unbelievable type.

This book is perfect for readers just graduating to chapter books, and who don't want anything too scary. A series of events, with a plot line that keeps moving but never confuses, and a cast of characters that is sure to have at least one that every child can relate to. A great precursor to Narnia or A Series of Unfortunate Events. Proof that oldies are goodies!
