Even though this didn't seem like a good book, it was great! You can never judge a book by its cover!!

The first in a trilogy, Blood Red Horse tells the story of two brothers, one orphaned heiress and a blood red horse called Hosanna. Will and Gavin De Granville are young brothers soon to leave the comfort of their English home for the Holy Land to fight for King Richard in the Crusades. Although they are both brave neither is prepared for what they will experience in battle; death, disease, sweltering heat and more than anything else, homesickness. Things at home, however, are not as well as the brothers may think. Ellie, Will’s friend and Gavin’s betrothed, is struggling to maintain control of her own life amidst the rumors, betrayal and lies threatening to ruin her. Thousands of miles apart, the three are kept together in spirit by one thing; the valiant and beautiful Hosanna, who will sustain their hope even in the worst of times. A perfect blend of history and adventure with the wonderful story of a horse to top it all off!
Recommended for grades 6-9.
