Sabrina and Daphne Grimm have been orphans since the day their parents disappeared. Since then, they have been moved from foster home to foster home, each crazier and more dangerous than the next. Then suddenly their grandmother appears to claim them. The grandmother their father told them was dead. And she wants them to believe that they are descendants of the Brothers Grimm and therefore the heirs to the role of protectors of the fairy tale characters that inhabit this world.

I loved these books! They've got an awesome plot, and the whole series is really great. Even got a satisfying ending. ;)

This book is very exciting and action-packed. I really enjoyed reading it.

The Sisters Grimm is a fast-paced, illustrated, fantasy/fiction series you will LOVE! When I first read the series (there are nine books), I would literally sweat with anticipation and excitement for what would come next! Also, the description above is very vague. Truly, two sisters, Sabrina & Daphne Grimm (descendants of the famous 'Brothers Grimm'), are in an orphanage-with horrible caseworker: Ms. Smirt. After being thrown into numerous abusive homes, an old woman claiming to be their grandmother picks them up and takes them to her hometown, a place called 'Ferryport Landing'. She says that many of the residents are actually fairy-tale characters-Snow White is a teacher at the school, Sleeping Beauty runs a coffee shop, the three little pigs are the police department, the mayor is Prince Charming, and more!

Two sisters, Daphne, 7, and Sabrina Grimm, 11, find themselves in a series of awful foster homes after their parents (and only living relatives) inexplicably disappear. The real story starts when the girls are dropped off with a new foster mom who turns out to be their grandmother Grimm, an Everafter who lives in an isolated and strange little town in upstate New York filled with mythic and fairy tale characters. Snow White is a school teacher, Prince Charming the Mayor, The 3 Pigs are Police. The sister's Grimm must get used to their new life while solving a crime involving a destroyed farm house and a huge foot print, while saving their Grandmother from a kidnapping Giant. Part mystery, part fractured fairy tale, part adventure the story is delightful, but long and windy-- take note because not all 4 to 6 graders will be ready for a thick twisty plot and 300 pages. But for those that are the book is a clever and funny and satisfying first in series.

As of Dec 12, stopped on page 105.

Sisters Sabrina and Daphne Grimm are sent to live with their grandmother in Ferryport Landing in New York, the grandmother which they formerly believed dead, approximately a year and a half after the disappearance of their parents. They are soon met with a surprising discovery - they find out that fairy tale creatures, better known as "Everafters", exist, after said "dead" grandmother is kidnapped along with her friend Mr Canis by a giant. Sabrina and Daphne, with the help of a shape-shifting fairy named Puck, a Mirror, and a short guy called Jack who speaks really, really weirdly, have to find and save their grandmother, and solve the mystery of What is Going On Here?

"You're kidding, right?" said Sabrina hopefully. "You're not going to let that smelly kid stay here with us?"
