One of my favorite books. It actually made me shed tears. It was the first book id ever read about slavery that was so deep and intense. I even sent the author an email regarding it and she replied back! * i got to meet her :D* i plan to re-read it soon

This book was so fantastic! I loved it so much and i recommend it.

This was a really great read! I read it in three days (due to other responsibilities)! When I was reading I did not want to put the book down. Parents, you should definitely allow your children to read this book. It shows that it was way more to a slave's life than just what was on the surface. The book is written in a manner that students would not have much difficulty reading and understanding the literature. Students learning about slavery should read this book in order to receive more knowledge on the matter in order to understand the different points of views and how certain instances played out.

This novel is really amazing. At first you think that slaves' lives were bad, but after you finish this book, you realize there was more to their life. The women were forced to serve their masters in the day, and raped by them at night. The men live in horrible conditions when traveling to another place.

The protagonist in this story changes in such a way, you can't help but feel happy for her. She goes from carefree to determined to give her and her to-be-born child a free life.
