Add a CommentLoved the movie, the story and the music. Great acting.
Brilliantly scripted and acted biopic of 'The Man In Black'. Phoenix and Witherspoon's performances were extraordinary, and they deserve huge praise for their singing as well (and I'm not a fan of country music). (If you enjoy this, you might also like: "Ray", the Ray Charles life story.) FIVE STARS.
I didn't listen to Johnny Cash's music at all before watching this movie. Afterwards, I fell in love with 'The Man In Black' and now I can't live a day without listening to one of his Classics. This movie is really great.
Great film! Enjoyed how the film showed how Cas, Carter, Elvis, Jerry Lee and others started out...could make a seperate film alone about those times. Witherspoon surprised me, I liked her in "Education", but the other stuff I've seen seemed like so much fluff. But here she was pretty amazing as June Carter..the music reminded me of when I was a kid of 5, the stuff my parents listened too.
Well-done and enjoyable. Enjoyed especially seeing Reese and Joaquin carry their tunes.
i loved this movie. I love that the finally made a movie about the life of jonny cash as he is one of the ledgends that defined the music industry
Fabulous, moving movie. I really felt pulled into the movie. Never knew much about Johnny Cash before this movie, but I was moved by his life afterwards. The actors were phenomenal; they became the characters themselves. Highly recommend it whether or not your a Johnny Cash fan.
Phenomenal!
Great movie, great singing, excellent interpretation of the two lead characters. The Folsom Prison Blues scene really puts the viewer in the moment. The comments by the director/producer inciteful.
I found this movie pretty boring. I think it would be more interesting to those who actually knew and/or listen to Cash's songs.
