A very good book. I like the plot, and the fact that it wasn't too clique. The story seemed real, and had an excellent lesson. Annabel, and Owen's relationship also was real. Five Stars.

Just Listen by Sarah Dessen is a novel centered around a teenage girl named Annabel Greene. Annabel is going through a lot in her life. Her older sister has an eating disorder and she has had a major falling out with her former best friend. On top of this, she isn't sure if she wants to continue modeling, something she has done her whole life. Annabel feels isolated and alone at school and at home. Then, she meets Owen Armstrong after she is visibly sick at school one day. Owen is not the kind of guy Annabel would typically be involved with. He Owen is not the kind of guy Annabel would typically be involved with. He is shy, introverted and attached to his I-Pod. Owen is the only one she has told the truth about the night where everything went wrong with her former best friend, Sophie. Owen helps Annabel find out who she really is, and realize that all she needs to do is 'Don't think or judge, just listen'. This novel was very hard to put down. It was easy to get wrapped up into Annabel's world and empathize with her problems. I think a lot of teens will relate to Annabel's story because almost everyone goes through bullying, heartbreak and trying to find themselves. Just Listen was funny when it needed to be and serious at the heavier parts. Sarah Dessen does a great job at giving the reader a visual of what is going inside in Annabel's head and what she sees. Overall, Just Listen was a great book in my opinion and one of my all time favorites.

For Annabel Greene her life has always been about photo shoots, the right gigs and the right friends. From the outside, it looks like she is the girl who has everything. But it’s time to look behind the camera lens. That one summer, worsened Annabel’s social life and state of mind. Her family isn’t of any assurance either. Taking care of her sister and meeting her manager-her mother’s needs. Far from a perfect life, but soon a six- four giant Owen Armstrong plays into her life. Together, they discover the importance of truth, music and how everything in life would fold into place, if you just listen. As a reader and a romance genre lover, I felt that this book was a heartwarming story and a page turner. Owen is a character that has a tough guy persona as well as a passionate and humorous soul. All of these combine a great formula for the male protagonist. I enjoyed how original, the character of Owen was. He was not some prince charming popular jock type that the main character would have a romantic connection to in other teen stories. I felt he was portrayed as a relatable sixteen years old with his IPod and love for music. There are also supporting characters who I was able to picture inside my head. One of the being Whitney Greene, Annabel’s sister. A character I feel is relatable to some readers because of her condition. I felt Whitney’s role in the story was rather poetic. Actually, when I think about it, the whole story is quite poetic, the idea of just listening to everything around you, all of your surroundings, is so beautifully true. The title of the story is what I like the most because it is a great reflection of the story even though it is simple and short. This book is a must read and I recommend it for teenagers, it covers some major issues.

Another home run for the author.

All I can really say is the author was really descriptive ...tried to get to the conversation just lot of description which is good in a way because you have a lot of information to picture certain scenes in your head . Overall I'd give this book a 4 out of a 5 . Pretty Good.
