Wonderful detective series, good cast, enjoyed every episode.

Totally agree with all the 4- and 5-star reviews. Lovely and hilarious subtlety everywhere throughout this series. The very kind and nice detective - who really detects, apparently unheard of in his precinct - and who gets imposed on hilariously by his friend Mod, subtly hit on by his landlady once his wife kicks him out, abused by his coworkers ("workers" - here meaning ass-kissers)and on and on. Discontinuation of this series was a huge loss to me, the worst in all TV seriesdom. Truly.

Outstanding!!! I've found another British mystery series I love and will continue to follow. Great acting....great adaptation of the author's books.......great fun to watch with a some humor/funny moments.

As stated before, a believable, interesting series. Not a lot of gun waving, cursing, yelling or carrying on to be important and noticed. Instead the development of relationships, careful police detective work, and interesting characters is the focus of this series. The main character is a kind person who often experiences others trying to steamroll him because they misinterpret kind for dull. they are so wrong.

Not particularly great: just another "detective with a lot of other troubles" story. Better acting and more realistic than an American series, but without much of a spark.

This is a great British detective series. "Dangerous" Davies is a nice-guy detective in a not-so-nice world. His younger coworkers pick on him, his boss gives him the worst jobs, and his wife (from whom he is separated) doesn't appreciate him. What no one seems to notice, however, is that he's a fine detective. In between cases he spends time with his quirky friend Mod, and walking his St. Bernard. Gentle humor and a realistic contemporary setting make this series a winner. With only 4 seasons, I was sad to see this series end.
