I had low expectations for this book but I ended up really enjoying it!

This book is really good!!!!! I will have to give out of 5 and its not really desame thing as harry potter, I like city of bones better than harry potter. Im so excited to finished the second book and its good to and u guys should read the second book!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH and when I first started reding it was a little boring, but when I got further I really enjoyed it!!!!

I have read many books in my time, but I'm sure that "The Mortal Instruments" series is my all time favorite.

A must read!!!!!!!! could not put it down!

I don't think this is anything like Harry potter except for Voldemort and Valentine having a remarkable resemblance. This isn't a terrible series by any means, and it may be slow at times and stupid at others, like Isabelle's terrible flirting with Simon, but it makes you laugh and think and I cannot WAIT for the sixth book!!!!

This book was a big copy of Harry Potter and Twilight, anyone else think this too? I mean think about it: Voldemort is almost the same a Valentine. Clary is like Ginny. Jace is like Draco. Simon is the all-so-loyal-best-friend Harry. I could go on and on. Plus, some of the comparisons in this book are just plain dumb. "The apple tasted green". There is too much wrong with that sentence for me to even explain. Hopefully The Infernal Devices isn't this bad.

This book was alright, the writing is transparent enough to show who this book was geared towards (female ages 13 and up) and had me eye-rolling a lot. For the record, I am female, going on 20. It was just...ehh not gripping enough for me, I felt like I couldn't care about the characters - which is a very important criteria for me when reading a book. If I don't feel anything for the characters, if their trials and tribulations I could care less about, then it's obviously not doing it for me. I went into the book hoping I'd find a great new book series to get into, sadly that hope has fizzled out and left me a little sad, and a lot exasperated. I'll give the sequel a go, but if it fails to impress/evoke anything upon me, I'll have to look else where to find a good read

This is the first book in the Mortal Instruments series. I found it a little slow at the beginning but the pace and intrigue grew as the story progressed. Sometimes, I felt that the jargon was excessively colloquial, but it is geared towards teens. There are twists and turns, creatures and magic, that held my interest.

This book is amazing!! It does have a slow-ish start but once I got into it I couldn't stop!!!

I am still reading this book at home and am enjoying it emensly. I bought this book and now i am nearly finished it. I read over 100 pages last night because it was so fantastic. I have orded the next book it must be good because im the 19th in line!

This is one of my favourite books. I love the characters, particularly Clary and Jace. The way Cassie Clare writes is wonderful, it is beautifully descriptive and witty. I fell in love with Jace in this book, and he remains my favourite male character. I also love Clary, she is 'one of us'.

The back: Their hidden world is about to be revealed... When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder--much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Clary knows she should call the police, but it's hard to explain a murder when the body disappears into thin air and the murderers are invisible to everyone but Clary. Equally startled by her ability to see them, the murderers explain themselves as Shadowhunters: a secret tribe of warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. Within twenty-four hours, Clary's mother disappears and Clary herself is almost killed by a grotesque demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know....

Through meeting Jace, Alec and Isabelle - teenaged defenders of demonic evil on earth - Clary becomes embroiled in a world class struggle of good and evil and realizes that she may have superhero traits of her own.

“Do you remember back at the hotel when you promised that if we lived, you’d get dressed up in a nurse’s outfit and give me a sponge bath?" asked Jace. "It was Simon who promised you the sponge bath," Clary said hastily. "As soon as I’m back on my feet, handsome," said Simon. "I knew we should have left you a rat.” - Jace, Simon, and Clary

“But you have to learn to bend a little,” said Clary with a yawn. Despite the story’s content, the rhythm of Jace’s voice had made her sleepy. “Or you’ll break.” “Not if your strong enough,” said Jace firmly. He reached out, and she felt the back of his hand brush her cheek…” JACE WAYLAND AND CLARY FRAY “He made a sound like a choked laughed before he reached out and pulled her into her arms. She was aware of Luke watching them from the window, but she shut her eyes resolutely and buried her face against Jace's shoulder. He smelled of salt and blood, and only when his mouth came close to her ear did she understand what he was saying, and it was the simplest litany of all: her name, just her name.” JACE AND CLARY!
