Whenever I open the leaves of this book, nostalgia hits me tearily like a ton of bricks. Unequivocally a charming, thrilling novel by R.L. LaFevers, normally known for her His Fair Assassin trilogy but to me for my favorite read when I was younger: Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos(the series is comprised of this firstly, Theodosia and the Staff of Osiris, Theodosia and the Eyes of Horus, followed by Theodosia and the Last Pharoah, which will be succeeded by the Flame of Sekhmet). Dwelling mainly in the Museum of Legends and Antiquities where her parents work, Theo is certainly a fantastic heroine. It's exciting, chilling, amusing, and many more adjectives. Original, thank heavens it doesn't suffer from the cliches of today's popular literature...READ, I beseech you.

Theodosia Throckmorton is a female champion in the chapter book realm. She's intelligent and adventurous, and not a little bit of a rule breaker. She uses her exceptional talent to uncover ancient Egyptian mysteries in her first book.
This book is well written and researched. Sure to thrill.

"heodosia Throckmorton ("Theo" for short) has an unusual talent. She has the ability to sense curses that are bound to ancient artifacts - which comes in handy, since her mother is an archaeologist and her father is head curator of London's Museum of Legends and Antiquities. When Theo's mother brings the legendary Heart of Egypt amulet home from a king's tomb, Theo discovers that it carries a curse horrible enough to start an unimaginable war between two secret societies, both of which are determined to steal the amulet. This exciting mystery set in 1906 will thrill readers, particularly those fascinated by the supernatural or by Egyptian history." Loved it! Plucky little British girl who basically lives in a museum and Ancient Egyptian themes.

Fabulous book, but a bit boring in some parts. A good book if you liked Percy Jackson or Red Pyramid.

Harry Potter meets The Mummy movies, but with it's own unique heroine. The Theodosia books may capitalize on the Harry Potter trend, but to dismiss them as knock-offs would be to deny a charming reading experience. If you enjoy Egyptian history, magic, and a unique and intelligent hero (who just happens to be a girl), this is the book for you.

Theodosia Throckmorton has her hands full at the Museum of Legends and Antiquities in London. Her father may be head curator, but it is Theo—and only Theo—who is able to see all the black magic and ancient curses that still cling to the artifacts in the museum. Sneaking behind her father’s back, Theo uses old, nearly forgotten Egyptian magic to remove the curses and protect her father and the rest of the museum employees from the ancient, sinister forces that lurk in the museum’s dark hallways.
