A feast for analysis if you're writing an essay but not for children or the faint of heart. The Pale Man still gives me the heebie jeebies. I suppose if you liked the movie Coraline or John Connolly's The Book of Lost Things, you'd probably enjoy this.

Some graphic scenes but they're not too bad. The girl has a very vivid imagination. Creative princess story but not for little children to watch. Older, mature children might be okay. Overall I really enjoyed it.

Freaky, scary, spooky, and worthy of HOMETHEATER!! I enjoyed this movie and liked some of the very cool sounds in it. I enjoyed listening to the little flying creature flying around in my surround speakers. Very nice effects. And the look of the creature sitting at the dinner table with the eyes in it's hands was pure eye candy. But there are quite a few good scenes that have great sound and awesome visual effects. This movie is part of my collection. I'm giving this unusual movie 5 stars!!!!! Amazing fantasy creatures, very good sound effects, and a very good story. Pork chops smothered in green peppers, onions, brown rice, and wine.

I am a fan of Guillermo del Toro and this movie is considered some of his best work. It is imaginative and very colorful. The movie takes place during the remnants of the Spanish Civil War which adds a bit of depth. The story is well written and as with all of del Toro’s work the supernatural characters are some of the best in movies. The main character is a young girl and you could almost mistake this for a children’s movie, but it has a dark side.

A beautiful piece of magical realism set to film. Very few popular films in America have dealt with the Spanish Civil War. This one deals with it through the eyes of a brave child... see it.
