I'm infatuated with trying to decipher the character of Henry. He's such a brat, yet complex. For example, his best friend marries his sister without asking for his permission first. Henry banishes him from royal court then accepts him back in after losing in an arm wrestling match. This plot line is complex yet readily able to follow. The romance scenes are very tastefully done and, contrary to many other comments I've seen, I think the acting is very good.

It took a couple episodes for me to get into it, but once I did, I was hooked. Love The Tudors!!!

I have started watching this and maybe will see the whole series through to the end. This must have been made strictly for entertainment value, what there is of it. I feel that they make these people out to be loafers, nothing to do all day but sit around and plot and scheme. Meyers comes across as not my choice for the main character, he acts like a little child through most of the scenes, pouty, preening, cross, rude, duplicit. The scene where he tries to polevault across a (tiny) stream makes everyone in the scene look very stupid. Why not cross on the other side where the water is not running, guess the director didn't see that or at the least hoped no one else would notice. Made Henry look very stupid. How the hell did he even run his kingdom if all the time he was lusting after some poor stupid wench? I'm not familiar with the history of this time but I somehow can't help but wonder how acurate any of this actually is. I would like to think that going from wife to wife was to have a male heir to the throne and not just some excuse to fornicate at will, at anytime. You somehow can't help but feel for Katherine and what she had to be going through. I guess in this case it must be "good to be King."

This is the worse "historical" video production I have ever seen. The authors seem to think it is OK to modify historical facts (and invent new significant ones) because it is convenient for their production. History is not like a novel, where you can change anything you want. In addition to these serious factual distortions, most of the characters act and think like middle class 20th century North Americans. They do not behave even remotely like what history teaches us they they would have in the 16th century.

Its too bad really, the real story had the potential to be a great show.

Don't waste your time with this nonsense.

A production of the highest quality. All about politics, power, and sex. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I'm not really into politics, power, and sex without romance.

the first season is worth watching if you just want to watch something for fun, but the series rapidly goes downhill. It has its sexy moments but is all in all pretty ridiculous. Not even close to historically accurate.

This is an incredible series, it has great scripting, wonderful acting, and a great cast. I highly recommend this series!! (Unless your a history buff, as this show is historically inaccurate)

Oh ugh. Fans of history will be completely disappointed in this series. Henry VIII was in no way that healthy when this story begins. Lots of splash, not enough true history.

I loved this series. If you're looking for flaws, you'll find them, but if you just enjoy an entertaining depiction of Henry VIII, you'll love it. Full of violence, duplicity and sex. Love it!

I much prefered the second season. This one had MUCH too much unnecessary R-rated activity...
I didn't like Rhys-Meyers' performance -- much, much too young to play Henry...and no red hair!
