A remarkable film on all counts. Tolkien filmmaker Peter Jackson's creative imagination is clearly evident with Pauline & Juliet's fantasy clay people sequences. I didn't realize that "Two and a Half Men" supporting actress Melanie Lynskey was a fellow New Zealander. It was weird hearing her native accent here as a pouting, rebellious teenager. She and Kate Winslet were obviously destined for bigger things with these feature film debuts, although I'll say Winslet's was the standout.

What a horrific and strange story, hard to believe it's real! The acting is amazing, and the way the film is laid out, is incredibly creative.
