The first in a series: When timid Milton and his older, scofflaw sister Marlo die in a marshmallow bear explosion at Grizzly Mall, they are sent to Heck, an otherworldly reform school from which they are determined to escape. Can they make it through all the levels of Heck?

heck a place somewhere between the surface of earth and hell. the to main charachtors are killed by an exploding marshmallow bear. an interesting read but in parts a bit confusing. i enjoyede this book a lot but mainly for kids 7+.

This is the first book and it is the one you would read fist before Raopacia and Blimpo. Which i have read and i am going to read Blimpo as soon as i get it

There's no getting around it: this is a really weird book. How else would you describe a book about two kids trapped in the evil reforamatory of Heck (based on Dante's Divine Comedy), where new(-ly dead) arrivals are welcomed by singing lizards and classes are taught by the likes of Richard Nixon (ethics), Lizzie Borden (home ec), and Blackbeard (PE)? Weirdness is what makes this book awesome, along with its truly humorous dark humor and puns that are actually funny. Probably not to everyone's tastes (it can be a bit of a dense read), but if you like it, make sure to read the sequels.
