Great book

I enjoyed this book. I do see where the negative comments are coming from though. This book is pretty good but not exceptional.

Could you kill a human being?

Could you kill 23 of them?

What if you had no choice?

For the last few days, you?ve been training mentally and physically in the Capitol for the Hunger Games. Living in the poor mining community of District 12, your mouth waters every time you breathe the lovely smells of savoury soups, fresh breads, fragrance fruits, and sweet desserts. It has been ages since you?ve scrubbed away the dirt and the grime from your skin with hot water and soap, and dressed in clean clothes. You are treated like royalty, but then you remember tomorrow they send you into the arena. Will you kill for survival or die to keep your morals?

Complete Review: http://feistylittlewoman.wordpress.com/2012/01/06/review-the-hunger-games/

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a dull boring book at the beginning but becomes exciting as you read on. The story begins in District 12 the poorest of all the Districts in a country called Panama. The main character of the story is Katniss Everden who volunteers for her sister in the annual reaping. The reaping is when a male and female from every District is gathered up and thrown into an arena. The last person alive goes back to their District with wealth and food. Katniss meets up with her stylist Cinna in the Capitol. Katniss is shown off for the first time to the people of the Capitol. Then starts to train for the games. After the training Katniss has an interview before the night of the games. Katniss dose great at the interview and the people love her. The next day she boards a hovercraft to take her to the arena. Will Katniss survive the games or die trying? The book is very slow and boring for the first ten chapters. But as she is in the games with all the exciting things that happen to her, you will want to read more. The book leads up to the sequel Catching Fire in the last few chapters which I enjoy because you want to know what happens to Katniss. I do not like how the author Suzanne Collins did not explain what happened to the United States before the great flood. Also, I do not like how predictable the book is. This is because once something happens you know that Katniss will struggle with the problem at first but evenly she finds a way to fix the problem. And the way she fixes the problem is also, very predictable as well. In conclusion, The Hunger Games is an average book. The plot is very predictable, slow getting to the exciting parts. Then when you get to the exciting parts you have a sense what will happen.

This is an incredible book, I shall start my summary with that! I have seen the first two movies and am anxiously awaiting the last two. I have read all the books and I have varying opinions on them. The Hunger Games, amazing, Catching Fire, great plot but the ending where Katniss essentially goes crazy, well it sort of sucked. Mockingjay, I didn't really enjoy this one as much. It was much more focused on the war and personally I found it too violent and overall disappointing. The movies were very good and they followed the books well, although the end of the Catching Fire movie I liked much more. Really though, you should read and watch for yourself. But if you want my opinion, this is it; I loved it, you should read it!

such a good book

Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.

Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when again it's morning, they'll wash away.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.

There is a futurist world, that used to be North America, called Panem. Panem consists of twelve districts and one Capitol. The Capitol controls and rules all of the Districts, and they have done so for 74 years, ever since the Dark Days when the districts tried to rebel against the Capitol. As the districts punishment for rebelling, and to make sure a rebellion will never happen again, the Capitol forces one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen from all twelve districts to fight to the death on national television for everyone to watch. It a way for the Capitol to show the Districts who is really in control and has power. In District 12 during the 74th annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen, a girl who lost her father in a mining innocent, and has been forced to take care of her family single-handly, steps up to take her younger sister, Prim's place in the games. Katniss and the male tribute from district 12, Peeta Mellark, must venture into the Hunger Games, and be prepared for anything.

The Hunger Games is definitely an incredible story! Katniss Everdeen is thrown into the games against Peeta Mellark and other tributes. Never in her life has she felt so confused weighing the meanings of life: survival or love. This book teached us that love is powerful, like Katniss, it made her do crazy things. It's a must-read!

This book encourages the reader to cheer for the underdog. It is a great motivation for female heroines. Katniss the main character allows readers to see that girls can show courage, ingenuity, quick thinking skills, athleticism, along with empathy, and friendship.

In the distant future lies Panem, and all it's outlying districts. The ruler of all these districts is the Capitol, the cruel government of Panem. In the past years, the Capitol has went through what they call the "Dark Days". The Dark Days was when the surrounding districts decided to rise up against the Capitol, forcing the Capitol to fight back. The Capitol won, therefore naming the time of rebellion the "Dark Days". Now, to keep the order and chaos in check, the Capitol forces each of the 12 districts to choose one boy and one girl to participate in the annual Hunger games. Each one of the contestants in the Hunger Games are called "Tributes". The Hunger Games is a televised death match that airs on live TV. The winner of the Hunger Games is granted mass wealth and food for their district. There can only be one victor in the Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen is caught right in the middle of all this when her beloved sister - the being that Katniss loves with all her heart - is selected to represent her district in the 74th Annual Hunger Games.

Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. THE HUNGER GAMES is directed by Gary Ross, with a screenplay by Gary Ross and Suzanne Collins and Billy Ray, and produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. Suzanne Collins' best-selling novel, the first in a trilogy published by Scholastic that has over 16 million copies in print in the United States alone, has developed a massive global following. It has spent more than 160 consecutive weeks/more than three consecutive years to date on The New York Times bestseller list since its publication in September 2008, and has also appeared consistently on USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists.
