This was totally out of the norm. Loved it. I try to get my kids to do movie makeovers in their own eyes. Funny!

I really enjoyed this one =, Jack Black and Mos Def are both incredibly good in this one. I would recommend this to fans of screwball comedies.

What started off as a fun film with an interesting nod to what once was great (the oh-so-beautiful big-boxed VHS) ended off with a completely different tone, resulting in a confusing and extremely off-putting mess that couldn't decide whether it was a comedic flick or a moving motion picture.

Not as good as I had hoped, but still a creative little flick.

I'm sure this movie was a lot of fun to make. It almost seems like the point of the film. The movie wanted the viewer to feel more emotions towards it's characters and it almost happens but doesn't. I heard many of the locals we used in the film to support the community.

Watchable (Fair) – Be Kind Rewind (2008) 108 min. stars Jack Black, Mos Def, and Danny Glover and centers around a video store in a depressed area of town that hasn’t adapted well to the changing world and demonstrated by their reluctance to convert to DVD rentals. The film tries to be a lot of things and changes direction a few times. It goes from slapstick comedy (where Jack Black becomes magnetized and everything metallic is attracted to him) to a spoof of most major blockbuster films (once Jack demagnetizes all the VHS tapes, they create their own home movies) to a warm homage to the silver screen. Though the film tries hard to be something, it fails at leaving the viewer with characters that we truly care about; which is the reason you’ll have an empty feeling as the film closes. You’ll probably enjoy the scenes of Mos and Jack recreating famous films and trying to guess the picture that they’re imitating. This film could’ve been a whole lot better if they focused a little more. While Roger Ebert gave this one a 2.5 star rating, IMDb viewer rating gave it 6.7 out of 10, Reel.com’s Bill Gibron loved it and gave it the full 4 stars.
