I found the first half of the book disturbing, and could only read small amounts at a time - due to characters with diverse issues like pedophilia, alcholhism, pyscophathy and self confidence issues... (I guess I read for escapism.) As things started to resolve in the 2nd half, it got easier for me to read. I didn't particularly enjoy the book overall, though it was well written with some surprises character development.

I'm not sure if I love this book or am completely terrified by it; I think I would probably be more inclined to love it, if purely for the line toward the end about Eli being an angel. (I won't post it because it's a spoiler.) I find it absolutely hilarious, although I'm not sure why. At any rate, I loved the mix between sad, sweet, and horrifying. They make a somewhat sickening combination, but in a good way.

While the story is interesting, the style of the book is so scattered, jumping between main and secondary characters. It might have just been lost in translation, but it was a struggle to get through the entire thing.

I saw the movie before reading the book unfortunately but i wasn't disappointed. The graphic nature of the book would have been too much to display on screen. This author seems to have perfected the balance created of the new vampire phenomenon without forgetting the true essence of the creature as well as showing the dark nature of humanity. It's all written in what seems to be a one of the simplest settings.

A vampire book! How did this get on my list? I read a few pages and took it back.

Are you sick of sensitive vampires? Me too. Let the Right One In harkens back to days of yore (gore?) when vampires were vampires (i.e., they actually killed people, drank blood, made other vampires). So, if you're in the mood for something far darker and far less melodramatic than several currently-popular vampire series I might mention, then this is one for you.
