This was not my favorite Harry Bosch book. Connelly could have left out the exceedingly long description of going through the underground sewer lines of both LA and Vietnam. The plot was actually very thin and was held together by lots of unnecessary details. Usually I like Connelly's books but this was his first so he can be cut a little slack.

This author was recommended to me; specifically the Harry Bosch novels. Well, I enjoyed it well enough, however, I found there to be a lot of filler - sometimes pages and pages worth. I liked the book well enough to try the 2nd book in the series sometime in the near future. A very quick read.

I'm always excited to find a series I haven't yet read. This is smart , well written and fast paced, just the way I like them. Interesting and complex characters hold your interest . Great story line. Although this book is 20 years old, it stills feels relatively current even though no one uses cell phones and some of the other modern conveniences we now take for granted. A great read!
