This is as much a black comedy as a science-fiction story. The directory, Nacho Vigalondo, likes to mix tense situations with dark humor. It's not laugh-out-loud funny, but the Vigalondo uses the time-travel loops to change our perspective on action we've already seen, just as the punch line of a joke can reframe the joke's setup. It's worth checking out Vigalondo's earlier work, the short "7:35am": http://vimeo.com/3628021 .

One of the best time travel films, I've seen. Dark, mysterious, and the traveler only goes back 10 minutes or so!
