I love this book. I can relate to all of them and they are very good role models. They stand up to mean girls. If you like this one you should read the next one. Sadly there's only 1 more :(

Lauren Myracle is a girls publishing superstar. Her Internet Girls trilogy was the first to use only IM speak to tell the story of three friends and their high school adventures. She followed that with a more traditinal trilogy of books about the tween set. Now she has turned her attention to the nine and ten year-olds with her new novel.

Yasaman, Violet, Millie and Katie-Rose are four girls starting Grade 5 in Southern California. All four of these girls have secrets and issues. All four run afoul of the class bully Modessa in the first week back. And somehow, the four of them come together to deal with her, becoming friends in the process.

Myracle has chosen to tell this story using IM, blog posts, scripts (one of the characters is an aspiring film maker who is always video taping things) and traditional novel text. This allows Myracle to show off her incredible ear for the dialogue of girls. These characters feel real and the story moves along quickly, which is good because it only covers the first week of school. I suspect we will be seeing more of these characters as Myracle explores the pre-tween set.

It's the beggining of fifth grade, where anything can happen, and this
year four very different girls are going to go on an adventure! First, there's new girl Violet, who joins Club Panda, then goofball Katie-Rose,
who make two girls tumble in the hallway, Yasman, who creates websites, and Camilla (Milla to her friends), who loses her lucky toy turtle. Together, these girls are amazing!
