This is a charming book in most respects. However there is a rather graphic (and horrific) depiction of a drowning pirate. Ok, I get it -- the pirates are the "bad guys" -- still, seeing a man drowning in such fashion is, in my opinion, not appropriate at all for this age group!

Gorgeous illustrations in a magnificent collection of short adventures lived by Louise the chicken.

Louise is a unique chicken. When she is bored, she sneaks out of her henhouse and goes on adventures. Sometimes she sails the seven seas, other times she joins a circus. But always, when the adventures are through, she returns back to her coup and tells her friend Monique what happened.

This is a lovely book by one of the most prolific and interesting children's authors out there.

The narrator voice is excellent. Fun book to listen to.
