Great crime and family drama ... watched it without caption from Netflix but better than waiting in the long queue. The shady Saul character has so many fans (see "quotes") that Netflix is producing a "Better Call Saul" as spin off.

After watching the first two seasons, I've decided I don't really like any of the characters. Jesse is very annoying and whiney, Walt lost my sympathies with his actions in season 2, and none of the supporting characters have anything to offer. Nevertheless, I shall persevere with the next season just to see what happens.......

The second season of Breaking Bad is much darker than the first season. Much of the season deals with Walter's cancer treatment as well as Jesse's drug addiction and new found love. Walter and Jesse make a huge batch of meth in one edgy and funny episode. Jesse then tries to develop his own distribution network but it ends in failure. For various reasons Walter and Jesse need legal advice and they get involved with a shady local attorney. The attorney does hook them up with a buyer for the remainder of their meth but not without unforseen problems. Walter's and Jesse's behavior throughout the season leaves each of them with big personal issues..

Not as exciting as the first season because not much new is revealed, really. Walt's ethical and moral depravity is hard to witness; just because he is obviously suffering for it does not make him any more appealing. Still, it is a masterful series taking on serious and deeply conflicting motivations and behaviors. And the acting is, for the most part, first rate.

I think the 2nd season of Breaking Bad is better than the first! The characters are all much deeper with even better acting. Hank and Jesse in particular but Walter continues his trip into darkness. The family disintegration and den of lies is so disturbing it's almost hard to watch. But through it all you still want things to work out for all the characters. This season shows more of the impact of drugs on society too. Can't wait to watch season three now.

[Talking to Skyler after Walt introduced his wife to Saul] Walter never told me how lucky he was. Clearly his taste in women is the same as his taste in lawyers : only the very best... with just a right amount of dirty! If you're committed enough, you can make any story work. I once told a woman I was Kevin Costner, and it worked because I believed it. Did you not plan for this contingency? I mean the Starship Enterprise had a self-destruct button. I'm just saying. As to your dead guy, occupational hazard. Drug dealer getting shot? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's been known to happen.

Saul mistook Jesse as his client and proceeded to talk monetary terms for his compensation: Saul Goodman: I'm gonna get you a second phone call, OK? You're gonna call your mommy or your daddy or your parish priest or your boy scout leader, and they're gonna deliver me a check for $4650.00. I'm gonna write that down on the back of my business card. Four, Six, Five, Zero, OK? And I need that in a cashiers check or a money order, doesn't matter. Actually, ah, I want it in a money order and ah, make it out to "Ice Station Zebra Associates." That's my loan out. It's totally legit... its done just for tax purposes. After that we can discuss Visa or Mastercard, but definitely not American Express, so don't even ask, alright? Any questions?
