Over 4,500 years ago, people went to a lot of effort to move, shape, and position great stones to create the circle of stones that we know today as Stonehenge. Join author Marc Aronson as he explores the discoveries that archaeologist Mike Pearson is making about Stonehenge and the area around it. Illus. with photos.

Fascinating, but not sure young middle schoolers will be caught up in this topic unless it is connected to something else they find important.

How was Stonehenge used and did the people who used it live nearby? Subsequent digs find the remains of small houses and other structures on the Salisbury Plain. Also a long-buried skeleton is found that brings more information and mystery to the site. Good maps and color photos.
