I just finished watching this piece of drivel and it is the worst movie I have ever seen. Predictable to the second, acting so bad you'd think Celine Dion was in it, script lines that are hysterical and scary and intense as one poster said on here ? please, this is about as intense as waiting in line at COSTCO at 4pm on a busy Friday afternoon... This is just one bad cliche piled upon another which itself is piled upon another. I assume (or hope !!!) the book was better but frankly, any movie with Leonardo you know first hand is going to be laughable, the kid can't act, especially when he's playing a big bully or cop (guffaw...)... Maybe with an actor of some talent, and done by a director with some sense of drama and a script not written by someone who put the book in the blender then glue it back together again... do yourself a favour, pass on this 2 hour-plus snooze fest and watch "THE SPANISH PRISONER" or "THE USUAL SUSPECTS" or "APARTMENT ZERO", you know, good movies...

OMG! What were they thinking? If this were any other director, one might be merciful, but Marty...whassup? This is an overlong Twilight Zone episode with better camerawork, but the same level of egregious overacting. You will guess the ending after the first 10 minutes, and the insane waste of talent getting there will leave you gasping. Is this a cynical grab for popularity? Is it a joke? Is it a send-up? Whatever it is, it is a MAJOR waste of time and money. Shame on you people.

I truly enjoyed watching this flick! It's an edge of your seat don't blink you might miss something all around great reason to go to the movies!! I loved Mark Ruffalo's character portrayal very much! It's a must see for sure!! :)

A stunning psychological thriller with alot of suspense and an inexhaustable amount of mystery!

Overdone. Entertaining but needlessly overboard with messy mind games and plot complexity.

Creepy and atmospheric. I had read the book, I knew the ending and I was still spellbound. Leonardo DiCaprio is great to watch.

A very good movie with a great ending. Keeps you guessing the whole time.

This DVD was unable to watch due to a glitch on the front side of the dvd. It seemed like a piece of the dvd had been ripped up and it prevented it from playing. Too bad because this movie was a very suspenseful movie to watch.

Although it gives us some clues, “Shutter Island” is a creative story that keeps us guessing until the very end. The film certainly has a talented cast; I was particularly impressed with Ruffalo’s performance. The only shortcoming that I could mention is that the movie seems a bit long and tends to drag at times.
