As she tries to sort out her feelings of love, seventeen-year-old Cass, a spunky math genius with an introverted streak, finds a way to memorialize her dead best friend.

When Cass Meyer's best friend, Julia, died, she left behind the script for the top secret musical she was writing. Cass deals with her grief and confusion while attempting to help Julia's other friends stage the show in her honor.

The nuanced cast of characters is a strong appeal element here. And then there is the really wacky musical, along the lines of the one in Will Grayson, Will Grayson (by David Levithan and John Green) but with lots of fake blood.

Highly recommended. Grade 7 and up.
