Doesn't quite live up to the first book but it is really close. Really makes you hate you're totally normal and bland life actually. Really, who wouldn't like a robot or fabricated animals?

can't wait to read!

I love this series like WHOA! The history geek in me revels in the alternate universe that Westerfeld has created occuring during World War I with the Darwinists (Allied Powers) versus the Clankers (Axis Powers). Deryn/Dylan continues to be an amazing character, although in Behemoth we get a lot more development of Alek's character. He's definitely growing into himself, gaining more confidence and assuming a more commanding attitude. New characters provide some twists and turns both humorous and tragic. Also, Kevin Thompson's illustrations are so incredibly beautiful and really bring alive this series, every time I came upon one my eyes perked up, studying the detailed art and making sighs of appreciation. So much emotion is felt through the pictures, especially the full two page spread of the Behemoth, it literally took my breath away, frightening and awesome at the same time. Big secrets yet to be revealed, so I eagerly anticipate reading Goliath the third and last volume in this series which was just released!

Sequel to "Leviathan" (that I read a couple of weeks ago). Excellent sequel, but not quite an excellent book: it picks up on the story started in the previous book and moves things along, but no great developments or fascinating new ideas such as we saw in the first book. That said, a great, rollicking adventure, written for kids but appropriate for everyone. I will definitely read the final book in the trilogy.

I just finished this book. It was really great! Usually I'm not into the whole "steampunk" thing, but this was well-written and has an amazing plot! I hadn't read the first book since last year, so it took me a chapter or two to get into it. But all in all a book you should read!!!

A great continuation of the series. Really lets you get to know the characters even more. I couldn't put it down.

"It's almost like...I'm in love." "What!" "I know it's silly, but if things were different..." "But...have you guessed already? Am I that obvious? What if... things were different. Urgh! What are you saying?" "I think...I'm in love with your ship." "With the Leviathan????"

"Don't be silly, young man. It's elephants all the way down."

The only sound from the birdcage was Bovril's maniacal laughter.
