The intertwining stories of a town's people come together in a lyrical mix of natural history, poetry, and Salish and Celtic lore that offers crime, heartaches, celebrations, healing, and death.

Brings a town to life through the jumbled lives and braided stories of its people.

If you can't get to the ocean, enjoy Doyle's evocative story of a small coastal town in the Pacific Northwest. My favorite character - the talking crow.

Looks at the lives, loves, and losses of the residents of the village of Neawanaka, Oregon.

Exuberant, richly detailed, brilliantly imagined. If you enjoy poetry and magical realism, this book is for you. Highly recommended!

I am really loving the poetry of this novel, quite unlike anything I've read before. I'm not sure which Doyle loves more - the texture and tumble of words or the place about which he is writing. Either way, this is a rich and satisfying read.
