The beginning was sad, however do not let this turn you off the book, it is a very good read :D. Having two historical time periods was very interesting. I really loved Pilgrim and all the hawking. Mr. Greenwood was a very enjoyable character as well.

A nice and exciting read. Makes you imagine being swept off to another land. Emily Whitman is a great author and I'm looking forward to reading more of her books!!
