Summary
Add a SummaryGregor and his two-year-old sister, Boots, fell through a... hole (?) and into the secret (kinda) underground world called the Underland (kinda obvious name). They learn of the Prophecy of Gray, and has to go on a quest to save their dad, who disappeared from their apartment two years ago and apparently fell through the same air duct as Gregor and Boots and has been imprisoned by the rats.

Add a CommentI picked up Gregor the Overlander partly because I enjoyed the Hunger Games trilogy and partly to become more familiar with some of the more popular children's novels. I also recommended it to my son for his latest book project. I was caught up in the book from the beginning. There is richness and believability to the characters that draws you into their world and sometimes leaves you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. While it doesn’t have the depth of the Hunger Games, and it really shouldn’t since it is a children’s book, I found it a highly entertaining read.
good start to series
This is a great book!!! It starts out slow at first, but gets way better. I'd recommend this book to anybody who asked whether they should read this or not.
This book is about a boy who finds a secret underground world. He goes down to see a bunch of large insects and creatures telling him that he is the hero of the prophecy. Gregor needs to fufill the prophecy and find his dad before he has to stay there forever. This is a good book. It is slow at first, but it will get better.
wow!! I can't get my nose out of this book. It's AMAZING.
I can't say I thought this was slow to start. I was immediately drawn into the story and couldn't put the book down. I will definitely read them all and recommend them to any fantasy fans of any age. PS-found the entire series as a set on amazon and read them all in one day! Amazing.
I've read the whole Gregor series and the first one (at least at the beginning) is a bit slow. My sister read it and thought i'd like it so i read it. I was kinda bored at first but trust me the books get better and better, until the last one.......the last one i've read about 4 times and could read again, it's just AMAZING!!! By the end you feel like you have a deep, wondeful conection to Gregor, you've watched him grow up and go through some amazing and horrible things. It is an AMAZING series!
Vv Spoilers vV
its very interest thing
The story is meant to start dull, but as Gregor becomes entrapped in adventure and action, it gets a lot better!
