This is an amazing story of the human will to triumph over unimaginable odds and adversity. It is well researched and written and the narration is captivating. It is shocking how human beings can treat each other and inspiring as to the strength of the human spirit. This book shares a lesson of the strength of the human spirit but also provides invaluable history lessons of WWII that I don't ever recall learning before.

This man's life was incredible. As I read about Louis Zamperini's life, I thought there easily could have been a book written about him simply for being an Olympic Runner or a book about his survival when lost at sea for a record-breaking number of days or a separate book about his experiences as a POW in Japan during World War II--instead all of these experiences make up one incredible man's life story. This book deepened my appreciation for veterans and all they've been through to protect our freedom and way of life, and it taught me more about Japan's involvement in World War II. Great book.
