There are some really good stories in here and some not quite as good ones. The two award winning stories at the very beginning and they are the best, so the quality kind of declines a bit as you keep reading. All of the Megan Lindholm stories are clustered together at the beginning and the Robin Hobb stories are clustered together at the end. The Megan Lindholm stories are midlength short stories, the Robin Hobb stories are pretty much novelets, so the pacing isn't very balanced. If you can overlook these presentation problems, the writing itself is very readable. Robin Hobb/Megan Lindholm's novels are a lot better though.
