Comment
Add a CommentIn “True Grit” the chase is central to the plot but when this comes to an end, it is quite anticlimactic. It is perhaps for this reason that I wish Brolin would have had a greater part in the movie. Overall, I enjoyed the film. The character of Mattie, in particular, reminded me of Jodie Fosters’ (a favorite of mine) early roles.
True Grit ---- (DVD - 2011 Western/Cowboy) ---- As this show is an un-needed Redux! ---- Lots of gruff talk witout a real substance as the Original Movie. The final battle and rescue was better: the first version/film had more drama in the end. ---- Some films should just be left alone!! ---- (Maybe, Mr. Bridges could'nt jump a fence) Enjoy! ---- RichardPaul (finished 4-13)
fine acting by Bridges and the young lady - damon a lot more likable than bourne character - barry pepper gives fine performance - james brolin gives preview of character in "no country for old men" and one of his best performances - very realistic to degree for history buffs - Highly recommended!
good
Good movie but way over-hyped. Jeff Bridges did a good job but pretty much was a combination of past characters "The Dude" and "Bad Blake". The original was much better, much grittier.
an OK movie - I enjoyed watching it while my husband wandered off. Not as suspenseful as a Clint Eastwood western, but enjoyable!
Outstanding. A rare remake that does justice to the original. Jeff Bridges creates his own well done interpretation of the Rooster Cogburn character instead of making the horrible mistake of attempting to be another John Wayne (impossible). Hailee Steinfeld gives a terrific performance as well. FIVE STARS.
Excellent retelling of a classic western. Even though the scenes appear to be taken verbatim from the original, this movie could stand alone. The casting of Jeff Bridges as Rooster Coburn was right on the mark. But the best part was Ms. Hallie Steinfeld as Mattie. I think she did a better job than Kim Darby did. A good movie to watch on a lazy afternoon.
Borrrring...
I loved this movie. It was well-cast, compelling. A very nice style of western to watch, with a great story.
