A great book to read aloud. Although simplified, this version still contains quite a few stories and requires the ability to remember where you were when you finished reading the previous chapter (especially if you've let a few days go by like I often did), so it's better suited for older elementary readers than the early graders. The illustrations are full of color and the binding is nice. It's a beautiful book. Of course, many of Barefoot's books are exceptionally gorgeous!

Some lovely illustrations in this book. Recommended.
